Melissa es una escritora puertorriqueña cuya obra ha sido publicada en The New York Times, Orion Magazine, Lonely Planet, Chowhound, Atticus Review, Catapult, The Caribbean Writer, Puerto Rico Review, Santa Rabia Poetry, Revista Kametsa, Revista La Raíz Invertida, Plantígrados y la revista italiana Il Detonatore, entre otras publicaciones. Es coautora de The World We Need (The New Press, 2021), libro sobre justicia ambiental, y autora de La narrativa activista de Rosario Ferré (McGraw-Hill España, 2020), su primera obra académica. Tiene una maestría en literatura latinoamericana de la Universidad de Barcelona y un MFA en escritura creativa de Mountainview. Fue becaria del Book Project en Lighthouse Writers Workshop, taller donde posteriormente impartió cursos de ensayo personal y escritura de memorias durante años. Actualmente cursa un doctorado en literatura caribeña y escribe una novela. Su primer poemario será publicado en el 2026.

Melissa is a Puerto Rican writer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Orion Magazine, Lonely Planet, Chowhound, Atticus Review, Catapult, The Caribbean Writer, Puerto Rico Review, Santa Rabia Poetry, Revista Kametsa, Revista La Raíz Invertida, and the Italian journal Il Detonatore, among other publications. She co-authored the environmental justice book The World We Need (The New Press, 2021), and published her first book, La narrativa activista de Rosario Ferré (McGraw-Hill Spain), in 2020. Melissa holds a master’s degree in Latin American literature from the University of Barcelona, an MFA in writing from Mountainview, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Caribbean literature. She was a Book Project fellow at Lighthouse Writers Workshop, where she later taught personal essay and memoir courses for years. She's currently pursuing a PhD in Caribbean literature and writing a novel. Her first poetry collection is coming out in 2026.
